If you’re wondering why Felicity Huffman of ‘Desperate Housewives’ hasn’t done more movies since her Oscar-nominated leading role in ‘Transamerica’ five years ago, you’d be wondering alongside Huffman herself.
“I was anticipating doing more movies,” she told me as TCA members toured the Wisteria Lane set on the first day of the summer press tour. “I got a lot of movie scripts for a while… I don’t really get them anymore.”
Huffman said she underestimated how much time she’d really have during her five-week ‘Housewives’ breaks, but that wasn’t all she underestimated. “Independent films have taken a dive. They’re becoming harder and harder to do and somewhat extinct because there’s a glut on the market, and they’re just so hard to get funding. So I feel like the golden age of independent movies, at least the way they were being done, is over.”
